After searching high and low, I finally purchased Blake’s “big boy” furniture. I don’t think I’ve ever done so much research or window shopping in my life! I went to Pottery Barn Kids (love their selection…ridiculously overpriced), Value City (didn’t like their selection), JC Penny (great furniture but they didn’t have the colors we wanted), Levin, Target, Babies R US, This End Up, a variety of Amish Country stores online (they were 4x the price of PBK!) and I even stopped at Ikea in Pittsburgh on my way back from my friend’s wedding shower in Morgantown, WV (I wasn’t impressed with their kids selection).
I am usually not a very picky shopper. In fact, I’m a speed shopper and can make purchasing decisions very quickly. That’s why it was driving me nuts that I couldn’t find what I was looking for. Everything was either too expensive or poor quality. That is…until I took the advice of my friend Bridget and went to Berg’s Baby in Willoughby Hills.
I had a preconceived notion that Berg’s Baby was similar to PBK in price, but that is NOT the case. They have a wonderful selection of kids and teen furniture and I found the prices very reasonable. This is what I chose for Blake.
We got this set from Matrix Kids Collection at Berg Baby, only in a different finish. We chose Chestnut. We got the twin bed, trundle, rails, a single dresser and mirror….all for more than a grand LESSĀ than PBK charges for a similar bed and dresser. (PBK also doesn’t have any mirrors that I could find to match their dressers and the rails at PBK are an additional charge).
I still like PBK for ideas and I will probably get some bedding or other accents from there, but why pay so much more when if you do a little research, you can get what you want and save?!
Our bedroom set will be here in six to 10 weeks. I’m so glad I ordered it now since “Baby D” will be here not long after that!
