The Ides of November

Blake only has a few more days left as an only child.

(Here is he dressed up as a cowboy for Halloween. Trick-or-Treat night was only a few days ago here in the Cleveland area because of Hurricane Sandy)

While we are so excited to welcome his new sibling into the world, I also feel guilty that I won’t be able to give him 100% of my attention once the baby is born.  I’m sure there will be some rough days, but I also know our little guy is going to make a GREAT big brother! He talks about the baby all the time and says he can’t wait until he has someone else to play with! Parents, any advice on how to handle two?

As for me, I’m feeling pretty good, considering I could go into labor at any moment!

(Not the greatest picture of me, but it’s the most recent! Dean was dressed as the “Man in the Yellow Hat”  because Blake was supposed to be Curious George but he changed his mind!)

Yes, I’m uncomfortable and wobbly and my balance is totally off, but I’m feeling well enough to go see MADONNA LIVE IN CONCERT tomorrow!

I’m so excited! Maybe my water will break to “Like a Virgin”! haha I can’t wait to VOGUE!

In addition to all the excitement surrounding Baby #2, we’ve also had to deal with some health issues with our nine-year old Schnoodle, Bailey.

Bailey was just diagnosed with diabetes and I now have to give him two shots of insulin a day. Luckily, he is a very good and docile dog, so this hasn’t been a problem. I got very overwhelmed, though, when I tried to test his blood sugar. The vet instructed me to prick him on his ear, take his blood and test the sugar. It was much harder than it looked and it’s just not something I can add to my plate right now. Luckily, the vet told me to just keep giving him his insulin shots and I can bring him in for periodic blood sugar testing. I can’t imagine trying to take care of a two-year old, a newborn, give Bailey two insulin shots a day AND test his blood sugar twice a day. I am only one woman! :)

So from a diabetic dog, to Madonna to getting ready to pop, that’s what’s going on around here! I hope to update the blog at least one more time before I go into labor. Mother Nature will determine if that’s possible! Have a great weekend and I will be sure to post some pictures from the concert. Madonna and my DVR!

Madonna is coming to Cleveland as part of her world tour!

Image

She hasn’t been here since the 80′s and I want to make sure I’m there on Saturday, Nov. 10th! I heart Madge and, as many of you know, I thought she rocked the Super Bowl Half-Time Show! Tickets go on sale on Monday.Who is with me? Let me know and I’ll see how many tickets I can get! I’m not sure hubby will appreciate Madonna as much as my girlfriends!

In other news…last night I had a great date with my DVR. It was exactly what my tired mind and body needed. I caught up on How I Met Your Mother

and Modern Family.

I love those sitcoms. Dean doesn’t like sitcoms, so I enjoy these shows alone! He also doesn’t like my obsession with the Real Housewives, so that’s another one I watch alone! However, I’m not into Orange County. They bore me.

I’m off now to get some Spring decor for our house. I don’t have any and it’s time to put my snowmen away (I hope!). However, I do live in Cleveland and even though it’s been in the 60′s this week, I’m sure we will get hit with at least one more snow storm.

Enjoy your Friday!

Shorts in Feb!

Last week, my son and I flew down south to be with my family for five days. The weather was perfect! I packed jeans and long-sleeved shirts for us, but it was even warmer than expected! Blake LOVED running on the beach! He’s been to the beach a few times, but this was the first time he REALLY enjoyed it!

Image

It was hard to get good pics of him because he was constantly on the move! His hair also looks red in this pic…which it’s really not!

During our stay, my brother and I had a brother-sister day in Savannah.

Image

I hadn’t been to Savannah in probably ten or 11 years. It was great to do the “touristy” thing and take in all the sights. We stopped by Paula Deen’s restaurant, Lady and Son’s.

ImageImage

We also stopped by a local wine store and did a tasting of some local Georgia/Carolina wines.

Image

The wines were…um…how do I say this nicely…not my taste? haha I did end up buying a bottle that I can use to make sangria this summer. I always feel guilty and end up buying something in a store like this one, even if I don’t like what they are selling!

My brother and I ended the day stopping by food network star Robert Irvine’s newest restaurant, NOSH , for dessert.

Dessert was awesome! We ended the day grilling out at my parents house. Check out their backyard visitor!

Image

This alligator has been in the pond in their backyard since November! Scary stuff! He or she seems to to mind his or her own business and we do the same! As you can imagine though, we don’t let Blake anywhere near the pond!

Coming up this week….I’ll be blogging more about my trip, traveling solo with a toddler, and my new “clean living” diet!

How was your weekend? What did you do for the super bowl? Did you like Madonna’s halftime show? I LOVED it!
