Celebrity Baby Boom. Picky Eaters, and Little Boys Clothes

on March 22, 2012

Have you heard of the celebrity baby boom that seems to be going on in Hollywood? Almost a dozen notables are pregnant right now, from Reese Witherspoon (who I adore and I love that fact she didn’t “announce” her pregnancy) to Kourtney Kardashian to ( I hate to even put her name in this post) Snookie.

But the one generating the most publicity? Jessica Simpson.

She’s going a little overboard, acting as if she is the first woman to ever give birth. I understand her excitement, but she’s been spilling her guts to anyone who will listen about EVERY. DETAIL. OF. HER. PREGNANCY! C’mon. She also posed nude on the cover of Elle Magazine. I know it is all for publicity and she’s laughing all the way to the bank, but again, C’mon!

I recently saw an interview where she said she ate cheesecake for breakfast that morning and fried chicken for lunch. Not smart, Jess. I’m not one to knock the way women look while they are pregnant (some people did that to me while I was still reporting on air) but healthy eating is so important while pregnant. Check out one of my favorite blogs, www.ladyplusbaby.com. The author is 48 and about to give birth to her first child. She also got pregnant “naturally” and it was a total surprise!

This great blog also has posts from a nutritionist, who writes about how important it is to eat healthy foods while pregnant. Jess should read it!

Which brings me to another point. New studies suggest that what you eat during pregnancy can affect what your child eats for the rest of their lives! I’m a little concerned about our picky eater right now…

Image

because he won’t touch any type of meat! He doesn’t like chicken, hamburger, turkey, lunch meat, any of it! And guess what? I’m not a huge meat eater, either and I barely touched the stuff when I was pregnant. We are working on it. I’m trying to make sure he has a well-rounded diet, but it’s challenging right now.

Parents, what are your tips for picky eaters?

Now on to my last and final thought of the day: Little boys clothes!

Image

There is nothing cuter to me than a little boy in bib overalls! While there are way, way, way more girls clothes out there than clothes for little boys, I think bib overalls are just precious! Yesterday, I purchased some new bibs for Blake and some new rompers…

Image

Seeing him dressed so cute and innocent in these little clothes just puts me in my happy place! I know that I won’t be able to dress him like this for very long, so I’m going to get my fill of these cute clothes while I can!

Now I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you think of all the self-imposed hype surrounding Jessica Simpson and her pregnancy?

How do you deal with picky eaters?

How do you like to dress your children? Do you have clothes you especially love to dress them in?

Enjoy this beautiful Thursday!

Oh my gosh! Simpson is waaaayy out of control. I made a huge effort to eat healthy food while pregnant. I even made myself eat more meat than usual so I could get protein. Simpson’s bare belly freaks me out. I’m not a huge fan of bearing a preg belly. I never did, but then again…I wasn’t paid big bucks to!

As for picky eater…welcome to my world! Gianna is barely eating meat. She will sometimes only eat a couple chicken nuggets if they are dipped in a sauce. She won’t even touch beef. She will eat deli turkey and ham a little. If she could live off of hot dogs, mac n cheese and pasta she would! Have you tried chef boyardee chicken and rice? I chop up the chicken in it so fine that she doesn’t realize it’s in there. She loves the rice, peas and carrots that are in it. Does Blake like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Have you tried smoothies with him yet? I was going to get some fresh fruit this weekend and make smoothies for Gianna. She’s a bad breakfast eater! My Dr. says they won’t starve themselves and not to worry too much. It’s hard though, isn’t it??!

    • I will try the chef boyardee, I haven’t done that yet. Blake is the same way…could live off peanut butter and jelly, mac and cheese and grilled cheese. Good idea about the smoothies, too!
I’m glad I’m not the only one that is annoyed my Simpson! She looks like Sally Struthers right now! I wouldn’t be picking on her if she weren’t flaunting it so much!

  2. I agree it seems like Jessica Simpson is not eating the healthiest while pregnant. I hope she is a least taking her prenatal vitamins. I also have picky eaters and I worry about them getting adequate protein. My kiddos are not fans of meat either but they get enough protein from bean (my 19 month old eats kidney and garbanzo beans for snack, and hummus), peanut butter (and yes, all 3 of my kiddos had peanut butter by the time they were 18 months), and oatmeal balls (combination of oatmeal, peanut butter, and a little cocoa). I am always introducing them to new foods and it is important to reintroduce it, I remember reading somewhere that it takes a dozen times or so for a child to try something before they like it. Lastly, I totally have my go to outfits for my kiddos. In fact it recently dawned on me, after looking through pictures that I place them in those outfits too much. Great post!

    • good tips! My son has been eating peanut butter for a while now. I think I started giving it to him when he turned a year old (you would think I would remember.l..that was only seven months ago!)

I don’t mean to knock her either, but I heard on ET that Jessica claims to have only gained 40 lbs. 40lbs. my a__! Add a one to that (140). She is not eating healthy at all. But she signed a huge deal to take the weight off so maybe she thinks she needs to get really big so it looks like the program she was on is successful.

    • I agree! There is now way she just gained 40 lbs. I didn’t know she already signed a deal with a weight loss program. She’s probably looking at this like her “one moment in time” to eat whatever she wants!

      • Julie says:

Yep, I think Jenny Craig. So again, maybe she wants to beef up and then if and when she loses it, it will look like a big success story. She’s in People magazine this issue for her baby shower. She looks hard to recognize her face is so different with the extra weight.
